Rado’s design heritage is deeply rooted in square timepieces. Rado experimented with square ceramic watches, releasing the first watch in 1976, followed by the Ceramica in 1990. Thirty years later, the scratch-resistant material was utilized to build the square monobloc casing for this new True Square Limited Edition in collaboration with Ash Barty using cutting-edge injection molding technology.

The Rado x Ash Barty Limited Edition III design partnership, a reimagining of the traditional True Square in Rado’s renowned high-tech ceramic, heralds new and exciting times for both Ash and Rado. The watch is housed in a light rose high-tech ceramic square casing, exuding feminine vibes that will fit your style from day to night. Thanks to its white mother-of-pearl dial with rose gold-colored applied indexes, the timepiece has a rich feel. An opening on the dial provides a fascinating look inside the watch movement, a reminder of the labor-intensive process that goes on behind the scenes to create this beautiful watch.

The Rado R734 Caliber

Rado’s high-end caliber R734 automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve is shielded by a flat sapphire crystal face with an anti-reflective coating. The NivachronTM hairspring’s antimagnetic properties increase dependability by protecting the movement from magnetic fields. Rado tests in five distinct positions instead of the three required by industry standards, furthering its dependable accuracy.

Ash Barty and Rado

Ash, a fervent watch enthusiast, collaborated with the Rado design team during the development of the wristwatch. Ash remarks:

“Rado’s True Square watches have always been a favorite style for me and feature heavily in my collection, so we decided to use this shape as the basis for the limited edition piece.

We selected a feminine powder pink leather and matching high-tech ceramic case as the foundation for the piece. Adding a white mother-of-pearl dial with an open-heart keyhole made the unique square setting luxurious but versatile enough to wear from day to night.

The dial also features a tiny rose gold colored tennis ball with a jeu, set, and match engraving. A beautiful touch and nod to the involvement of both myself and Rado in the world of tennis.

I have loved the experience of co-designing this piece with Rado. It’s allowed me to combine creativity with my love of watches, and for me, particularly at this stage in my life, is a reminder to take the time to enjoy every moment of your journey. I hope that everyone will get as much enjoyment out of the piece as I do.” said Ash.
