Oris’s first entirely in-house automatic movement, the Calibre 400, comes with a five-day power reserve, high anti-magnetism levels, a 10-year recommended interval between servicing, and a 10-year warranty!

This brand new movement was the answer to questions Oris has been asking for years – “What should a mechanical watch movement do? How could it do it better? And for more people? How can we produce the best possible watch at the best possible price?”

Oris scrutinizes every detail of every watch they make to secure the highest quality at the best price, and it was no different for their first movement. They have designed a watch movement that fits our lifestyle today. Surrounded by electronics and tech all day is the norm, and the result is that magnetic fields are all around us. Many of us own more than one watch, so there will be days that a watch goes unworn. Oris Calibre 400 considers these new challenges with a reliable movement and consistently performs ten years between servicing. They have reduced the torque in the mainspring, conserving power; the new wheel design in the gear train increases energy retention by 20%; the rotor only winds in one direction. Over 30 parts of the Calibre 400 are in non-ferrous materials or non-magnetic alloys, significantly decreasing the impact of magnetic fields on the accuracy.

There was only one choice for Oris when they were deciding which model to fit with their first in-house caliber – The Oris Aquis Date. Recognizable worldwide as a solid and reliable divers watch, with multiple features, an Oris watch of choice for both men and women.

The new Oris Aquis Date is, of course, powered by the equally new Calibre 400. There are several differences in comparison to the standard model. It comes with a whopping five days of power reserve. The date window has been enlarged and is now black instead of white. To celebrate this new movement, the sapphire case back is larger than usual, giving us a bigger view of the intricate details of the Calibre 400.

Some things are still the same, though – the impressive 300-meter water resistance, the blue uni-directional scratchproof rotating bezel, and the SuperLumiNova® hands and indices.

The Aquis Date Calibre 400 is fitted with either a steel bracelet or a black rubber strap. Thanks to Oris’s Quick Strap Change system, no tools are required; a simple lift of the flap allows you to change your watch’s look.

The timepiece comes with a 10-year warranty, as will all watches powered by the Calibre 400 in the future.
