Shepard Fairey and Hublot are well-known to followers of art and watches; their collaboration on the limited-edition Big Bang Meca-10 Shepard Fairey watch in 2018 marked the beginning of a renowned partnership. Shepard Fairey has been welcomed into the Hublot family alongside contemporaries Takashi Murakami, Richard Orlinski, and Maxime Plescia-Buchi, among other greats from the fields of art, music, gastronomy, and sport, in keeping with the company’s motto, “Hublot Loves Art.”

Some of Shepard Fairey’s most well-known work includes the “Obama Hope” poster from the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign, “Liberté, égalité, fraternité,” which he created as a symbol of hope for France after the 2015 terrorist attacks. He was the first artist to display his artwork on the Eiffel Tower, with the striking 2015 “Earth Crisis” installation supporting the environmental cause. Hublot and Shepard Fairey chose a watch from the Classic Fusion collection with the Mandala as the focal point, anchoring the All Black design elements so distinctive to Hublot that they intricately layer upon one another to add unexpected depth to the monotonous creation. This is an evolution of the most recent Hublot and Shepard Fairey collaboration (released in 2020). The piece is a work of art and watchmaking accuracy, complete with a chronograph mechanism and a case made of Hublot’s signature All Black ceramic. One of fifty-two pieces offered for sale exclusively in North America, this limited edition’s number and automatic movement are revealed through the sapphire crystal case back.
Hublot honored the well-known Angelino in his hometown by organizing an exclusive party at Delilah’s in West Hollywood to mark the release of the Classic Fusion Aerofiusion Chronograph All Black Shepard Fairey. The event included specially created Mandala projections and Moroccan-style lanterns that mimicked Shepard’s Mandalas’ characteristic shapes. This gave the evening a moody vibe that honored the spiritual object’s significance across various cultures and times, including the present.
The message and motif of Shepard’s Mandalas continued to be cast throughout the city and North America, with a massive visual activation of Shepard’s work wrapping the Hublot Beverly Hills Flagship Boutique.
