Louis Erard announces three new color options to its iconic model from the Excellence line, the Petite Seconde, in a 39 mm steel case inspired by the codes of modern high-end watchmaking: midnight blue, purple, and ice blue.

This Petite Seconde, also known as a Small Second, is not nearly as diminutive as its name suggests. And it is far from being a close second. The Petite Seconde has become the flagship of exquisite watchmaking in Louis Erard’s style, making it the exact reverse of what the watch’s name sounds like. The Director of Louis Erard, Manuel Emch, came up with the idea to add distinctive colors to the current lineup as an additional identifying characteristic. First introduced in a silver or terracotta dial, it is now available in three new high-end, attention-grabbing colors.

As the name implies, the Excellence Petite Seconde has a small second subdial at six o’clock on each of the three new dial and strap variations: midnight blue, purple, and ice blue. A collection that is complemented with a new Excellence case that has been visually updated and polished while still being finished off with its trademark components, including its signature fir tree crown and hands.

The comeback of this beloved classic is marked by the Petite Seconde Midnight Blue. A color that has been used in luxury watchmaking for a long time and is obviously also part of Louis Erard’s long history. Midnight blue returns to the heart of the collection on a dark blue-grained calf leather strap with tone-on-tone attachment points and its blue-grained calf leather lining.

The second dial variation, purple, is a subtle reminder that even though modern watchmaking is still based on traditional values, it is also influenced by trends and sometimes breaks its own rules. The choice of purple, which looks even better with polished hands and indexes, shows this ability to adapt to change and move with the times. The timepiece is matched with a purple-grained calf leather strap with tone-on-tone attachment points, and the lining is in blue-grained calf leather.

Ice blue, the third dial color variation, has emerged as a popular choice for high-end and even extremely high-end watches in recent years. A bright color to which Louis Erard adds its personal touch, with a splash of color on the dark blue and polished hands, an ice blue-grained calf leather strap with dark blue attachment points, and a blue-grained calf leather interior.

Once again, Louis Erard shows us that luxury is not only reserved for the rich, with its affordable price point, proving that luxury should also be accessible. These three new dial colors prove that watchmaking, no matter how rigid it may be in terms of quality of execution and dependability, has no bounds in terms of originality.

The new Excellence Petite Seconde watches are powered by an automatic Sellita SW261-1 caliber, with a power reserve of about 38 hours. The stainless steel case has a diameter of 39 mm with a see-through sapphire crystal case back. Each of the three dial colors is limited to 100 to 150 pieces per year.
