De Bethune and Swizz Beatz celebrated the launch of DBD “Season 2” with a private brunch held at the WatchBox lounge in West Hollywood on March 19th. The event was attended by celebrities such as Alicia Keys and LL Cool J. This is not the first time that De Bethune and Swizz Beatz have collaborated; they previously worked together to create the Dream Watch 5 Tourbillon “Season 1” in 2021, which was an innovative watch that broke away from the brand’s traditional aesthetic.

The DBD “Season 2” watch represents the culmination of De Bethune’s constant pursuit of beauty and virtuosity. Despite its understated appearance, the watch’s intricate design hints at the complexity of its creation. The first DBD model, launched in 2006, was a milestone in the industry, offering a unique interpretation of the watch with its hand-wound movement, in-line triple calendar, and digital time display.

Designed in collaboration with Swizz Beatz, the DBD “Season 2” features a light anthracite-colored polished zirconium case with an ogival lug and 12 o’clock crown, giving it a modern and futuristic look. The burgundy dial is adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif, which creates subtle light effects that complement the wearer’s wrist movements. The watch’s most significant innovation is the Côtes de Genève pattern, which was introduced for the first time on a watch face in 2006.

The DBD “Season 2” is equipped with a mechanical hand-wound Calibre DB2044 that operates at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a titanium balance with white gold inserts and a triple pare-chute shock-absorbing system. The watch also features five discs visible through Art Deco-style apertures at 12 o’clock, indicating the day, date, and month in linear mode, with jumping hours and scrolling minutes appearing on the lower half of the dial. In addition, the sapphire crystal has a double glare-proofing treatment, providing clear visibility of the workmanship on the reverse side of the watch.
