In 2015 Czapek paid homage to François Czapek, the initial visionary behind the brand, with the Quai des Bergues collection. Since then, the brand has launched several other collections, including Faubourg de Cracovie, Antarctique, and Place Vendôme. Promenade is a collection that celebrates the evolution and maturity of the Maison. It combines historical essence with contemporary allure to create a unique identity. The collection is designed for the discerning connoisseur, with chic design and mechanical finesse.
Promenade embodies a modern vision of elegance – effortlessly chic, yet infinitely wearable. Its slender case, made possible by a micro-rotor movement, speaks to a refined sensibility. Leveraging the prowess of Czapek’s in-house caliber SXH5, initially conceived for the Antarctique collection, Promenade strikes a delicate balance between sophistication and versatility.
While the collection pays homage to its sporting origins, it transcends the realm of sports watches. According to Xavier de Roquemaurel, CEO of Czapek & Cie, “While the sports watch remains a timeless classic, we believe it’s nearing the limits of creative exploration. Promenade serves as a canvas for innovation, inviting playful exploration of color, technique, and material.”
While Czapek stays true to the time-honored principles of traditional watchmaking, it deftly bends its own rules to create a signature dial characterized by asymmetry. Each design emanates from a small seconds sub-dial positioned at 4:30, imbuing the timepieces with dynamic tension and fluid motion.
Czapek ventures into uncharted territory with two distinctive dial decoration techniques: Goutte d’Eau and Guilloché Soleil. Goutte d’Eau, a mesmerizing display of grand feu enamel, creates an enchanting optical illusion reminiscent of raindrops on a tranquil pond. Collaborating with Donzé Cadrans, Czapek presents this intriguing dial in sapphire blue.
Meanwhile, Guilloché Soleil reimagines traditional guillochage with a modern twist. The seconds sub-dial takes center stage as the sun, with intricately cut sun rays radiating from its core. Developed in collaboration with Metalem, these hand-guilloché dials are offered in Ivoire and Bleu Nuit, showcasing a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.
Echoing the iconic Quai des Bergues model, the Promenade stainless steel 38 mm case embodies a modern evolution of Czapek’s design legacy. With recessed and sand-blasted case sides, curved crown protection, and a slim, rounded bezel, the case is both sophisticated and timeless.
The Promenade collection is powered by the automatic Calibre SXH5. This exceptional movement features seven skeletonized bridges inspired by François Czapek’s 19th-century pocket watches. With Haute Horlogerie finishes and a micro-rotor crafted from 100% recycled platinum, the SXH5 offers 60 hours of power reserve, ensuring reliability and precision.
