Eileen Gu, IWC Schaffhausen’s Friend of the Brand since August 2021 and two-time Olympic gold medalist in freestyle skiing joined young skiers on the slopes in Aspen, Colorado. Gu took part in a special ski training day organized by IWC Schaffhausen and was joined by skiers from Snowmass’ local community, demonstrating her continuous dedication to encouraging future generations via her sport.

Gu became the youngest Olympic champion in freestyle skiing after earning two gold medals and a silver medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. In addition to being a sought-after model and a student at Stanford University, the skier is a strong champion for better representation and inclusiveness in her sport. Her goal is to encourage and inspire young children to achieve their ski aspirations.

Gu is preparing for the 2023 Winter X Games in Aspen, which will take place from the 29th to the 31st of January, in addition to her university studies in California. Eileen reinforced her reputation as the favorite, winning twice at last week’s Freestyle Ski World Cup in Calgary, catapulting her to the top of the overall rankings after nearly a year away from the slopes. IWC Schaffhausen has united both of Gu’s passions: skiing and encouraging the next generation to succeed in the sport by organizing a memorable and enjoyable day on the Colorado slopes with young skiers from the local Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club and IWC local partner Meridian Jewellers.

“I was so excited to spend the day on the mountains with this group of incredible skiers!” explained Gu. “So much about skiing comes down to confidence. It’s a super personal and expressive sport, so the more time you devote, the more it pays off in your ability. It was fantastic to share my passion – and some tips and tricks – with the young men and women here. I hope they will be inspired to follow their dreams.”
